Tips: Using Your Garbage Disposals
- Dispose of everyday food waste scraps in the disposer
- Run the
disposer with a moderate flow of cold water when disposing small
amounts of fat and grease
- Grind peelings from the citrus fruits
to freshen the drain
- Grind small amounts of potato peels or
carrot skins by feeding them slowly into the disposer
- Avoid grinding
extremely fibrous materials such as corn husks, celery and
artichokes
- Avoid using hot water when grinding food waste
- Avoid
turning off the flow of cold water or the disposer until
grinding is completed
